Who Are We?

Welcome to the University of Virginia Academic Competition Club’s website! The Academic Competition Club, more commonly known as Quizbowl, is open to all undergraduate and graduate students at UVA. While we welcome any interested players regardless of prior experience, similar high school activities that might prepare you well for Quizbowl include VHSL Scholastic Bowl, It’s Academic, Battle of the Brains, History Bowl, Science Bowl, ACE, and KMO.

In our format, teams of four players each compete against teams from other colleges at Saturday tournaments. We typically around play 10-13 games per tournament, which last around 30 minutes each. We’ve brought anywhere from 1-5 teams to tournaments in the past and are able to bring more if transportation is available. We also welcome anyone who wishes to attend our practices, whether they’re able to come to tournaments or not. We practice from 7-9 PM on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, usually in New Cabell Hall 485. To be added to our listserv, contact us using the form!

Our team has previous won the Intercollegiate Championship Tournament (ACF) and the College National History Bowl, as well as the Academic Competition Federation (ACF) National Championship. Our club membership has expanded to its largest in history, but we’d always love to have new members. Please reach out to our President or Secretary with any questions that you may have!
